Info: Summer Training

Our summer training program combines our Power Skating Curriculum with our Master Stickhandling Class. All programs are limited to 24 players and have a 6:1 player to coach ratio. Players will be skating more confidently with eyes up and puck on stick.

Our Power Skating Curriculum is a progression-based program designed to help players master the fundamentals of skating. Importantly, we have a keen focus on helping players synchronize hands and feet and spend a lot of time on helping players skate at full speed with puck on stick. Every session will marry a skating component (e.g., Arc Skating, Inside and Outside Edge, Crossovers with a stickhandling (e.g., Moves, Dekes and Fakes). Players will leave the program moving appreciably better and more comfortable and confident skating with their eyes up and puck on stick. Specific Skating Lessons include: Inside and Outside Edge; Arc Skating; Crossovers; Tight Turns; Cutbacks; Long Stride; and Backwards Skating.

Former NHL Player Patrick Davis and Tim Driscoll have created a Stickhandling Curriculum that is designed to teach specific Moves, Dekes and Fakes and synchronize Skating and Stickhandling. Players are taught the four stages of every move: 1. Set-up 2. The Move 3. Separation and 4. Acceleration. Importantly, the skating and edge work necessary to teach Moves, Dekes and Fakes at game speed will also be taught. Increased Hockey IQ through teaching the awareness of Time and Space and where and when to use specific moves (i.e., Zone Entry, Offensive Zone Tactics and simple Puck Possession). Specific Moves that will be covered include: Front Dribble; Forehand Side Dribble; Backhand Side Dribble; Toe Control; Feathering; Forehand, Backhand and Front Fakes; Pull-in Move and Pull-In Push-Out Move; Gretzky Move; Jagr Move; Tarasenko Move; MacKinnon Move; McDavid Move; Dahlin Move; Spin-o-rama Move.
